Prevent Illness & Diseases: 8 Best Lifestyle Habits You Must Practice
Updated: May 2, 2022
Practice these 8 habits everyday for one month to see positive changes in your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.
Below are 8 best practices to prevent illness and disease without:
Having to go to the doctor
Consuming prescription drugs
Spending a lot of money
Wasting time
One thing we have to understand is that we are in control of our own wellbeing.
We have the power to decide how we care for our bodies when we are sick, the foods we eat everyday, the beverages we drink, the habits we develop, the people we spend time with, and so much more.
All of that affects our health mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Meditation should practiced for at least 5-10 minutes daily for beginners. Once you develop consistency, you can increase the amount of time based off your needs.

2. Drinking plenty of water daily helps to purify our body by flushing out waste, mucus and toxins. The amount of water a person should drink depends on their weight. To determine how many cups you should drink everyday:
Divide your weight by 2
Convert that number from ounces to cups
Example: If a person weighs 145 pounds, then:
145/2 = 72.5 oz
72.5 0z = 9 cups of water daily

3. Fasting is one of the best ways to prevent illnesses because you are literally refraining from consuming foods that cause diseases. Fasting allows us to think more clearly and practice discipline. For beginners, practice fasting throughout the month. Each week, pick one day where you only eat between the hours of 1pm and 7pm.

4. Eating organic fruits and vegetables is essential for optimum health and preventing illnesses. Committing to a plant-based diet improves our immune system, reduces inflammation, promotes weight loss, allows us to maintain a healthy weight, and provides the nutrients our bodies need to function properly.

5. Yoga is one of the best doctors (and my favorite 😁) to care for our body. Yoga promotes stress relief, balance, flexibility, mindfulness, deep breathing, inner peace, and weight loss. Practice yoga for at least 10-15 minutes per day if you're just getting started. You can increase the amount of time you practice once you become more consistent and experienced.

6. Spending time in nature is a major key for our mental and spiritual health. Be sure to take some time to admire the colorful flowers, the green trees, the soil, the birds chirping, the wind blowing, and most importantly the energy and warmth of the sun. This is a great form of therapy and participating in the present moment to ease stress and negative thoughts.

7. Exercising strengthens our body and immune system to fight off diseases and illnesses. Keep your joints and muscles healthy by performing exercises that target each area of your body to maintain muscle balance. Exercise should be performed 3-5 days a week.

8. Lastly, but certainly just as important, is REST! Our bodies can not function at its best without proper rest. Be sure to rest between 6-8 hours to fully recharge your body. Lack of rest can result in stress, headache, lack of energy, lack of motivation, and weight gain.

Practicing these habits daily will guarantee you positive, healthy changes in your overall wellbeing, and will certain keep the doctors away. Let me know in the comments below how it works out for you!
Stay blessed!
